Dralin Carswell, the boyfriend of former child beauty pageant contestant and current reality star Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thimpson was arrested Tuesday in Monroe County, Georgia.
Multiple outlets have since confirmed that the 21-year-old spent two days in jail before being released on $25,000 bail.
Carswell was charged with:
One count of fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer; one count of DUI; one count of following too closely; one count of failure to maintain lane; and one count of speeding over the maximum limit.
Thompson, meanwhile, was actually a passenger in his girlfriend’s car when he was chased by the police.
TLC’s personality is not was charged and was the only witness in the case, per local publication The Reporter.
The same newspaper reported that police ran tags on Carswell’s Dodge Charger, indicating that he had outstanding warrants.
Monroe County Lt. John Thompson also told the Reporter that he tried to do a traffic stop, only for Carswell to speed up.
A dangerous chase ensued and continued for three miles before Carswell was captured.
The outlet also reported that Julian Malik’s passenger Divon Williams, 24, was arrested on outstanding warrants.
Thompson has been dating Carswell for two years, though she has rarely spoken publicly about the relationship.
Speaking to Teen Vogue at one point, she revealed that the older Carswell was probably “just friends” because she didn’t trust people her age.
“Honestly, I don’t have many friends. In everything,” she told this magazine. “Because I felt like people were like, ‘Oh my God, I’m friends with Honey Boo Boo.'”
Carswell was almost four years older than Thompson, and had been arrested for statutory rape.
“In our relationship, the two things that everyone talks about the most is the age gap and of course because he’s black and I’m white, and we’re an interracial couple,” Alana told Entertainment Tonight last year.
“I don’t care because, like, at the end of the day, my sister approves, her mom approves, and we’re happy, so what the fans say or what the haters say, I don’t care.”
Shannon, indeed, seems to be okay with romance.
“Yes, I have met Dralin. They’ve been together for over a year,” the Mama June: Road to Redemption star said.
“People need to know that she will be 17 in August and Pumpkin and Josh are the same age.”
He continued:
“She gets hate because she’s in an interracial relationship, she’s older. But at the end of the day, Alana’s not the 6.7-year-old kid y’all fell in love with 11 years ago.
“Alana has grown up, she will graduate from high school next year, girl!”
