After months of swirling rumors about who would make the cut Married to Medicine season 10 cast, it has been reported that Dr. Contessa Metcalfe and Anila Sajja has come out, and they are making way for Real Housewives of Atlanta alum Phaedra park.
In a statement given to LoveBScott.com, Dr. Contessa revealed that she “decided to call it quits” last season after four years with the long-running Bravo reality show.
“I need a break because it doesn’t highlight me as such [doctor] or as a mother… Plus it’s been 5 years! I’m sick of cussing and crying,” she told the outlet.
As for her thoughts on Phaedra’s addition to the cast, Contessa thinks she would make a “fun addition,” adding that the two are “neighbors.” However, he didn’t share the same sentiment when it came to Anila, admitting to the outlet that he doesn’t believe the former star is “just right.”
In the latest episode of her podcast, The truth with the King, host Carlos King all but confirmed that Phaedra will make her grand entrance to the franchise as she is Married to Medicine co-star Quad Webbhis friend. Phaedra is also rumored to have been in a long-term relationship with an unknown doctor for some time now, giving her the tie she needs for the show.
He also confirmed that Contessa had left the show of her own accord while stating that Anila was fired. The reason is that Bravo needs to cut the fat from the cast in order to pay Phaedra’s salary.
“Phaedra is not cheap. She is a reality television staple. So, in order to pay Phaedra, you have to get rid of some people. And this is where the alleged report…so allegedly, two people from Married to Medicine will not return in the future season of the show. Because there are people who don’t want to go back… at least as far as I can tell. And others, allegedly fired,” said Carlos.
The reality television producer supports Contessa’s claim that “she wants to do other things,” but for him, Anila “never made sense” as a cast member on the show and was only featured because of her friendship with her ex. Married to Med cast members Mariah Huq.
“Now with Anila, I have been saying this since the day, Anila never responded to me. Mathematics is not mathematics. And the match didn’t match up… Period. Point. I always felt that Anila’s culture was the reason she was hired because of the creator, honey, legend, executive producer Mariah Huq that she brought to the show…”
A filming date for season 10 of Married to Medicine has not been announced.
