The 2024 candidate is targeting anxiety among GOP voters as he promises to prevent World War III and nuclear Armageddon while eliminating America’s “greatest threat.”
These will be “deep-staters,” “people who hate the USA,” the administration of President Joe Biden, NATO as it is now, and “Marxists who want us to be a godless nation that worships at the altar of race and gender and the environment.”
Trump spoke about his opposition to US aid to Ukraine during the war against Russia. He seemed to release the invading nation into a lesser danger than his political enemies. He called for immediate peace but offered no plan to settle it to the satisfaction of both countries.
“Our foreign policy establishment continues to try to draw the world into conflict with a nuclear-armed Russia based on the lie that Russia is the greatest threat,” Trump said. “But the greatest threat to Western civilization today is not Russia. Perhaps, more than anything else, it is ourselves and some of the horrible US haters who represent us.
“This force is doing more damage to America than Russia and China could ever dream of,” he said. “Getting rid of a sick and corrupt institution is a monumental task for the next president. And I’m the only one who can do it.”
Trump is likely to face stiff opposition from Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in the GOP race for the White House. He also has other challenges ahead — including a possible indictment in a hush-money case involving adult film star Stormy Daniels and an ongoing investigation into allegations that he tried to overturn the results of the 2020 election in the swing state of Georgia.
