There have been a lot of political scandals popping up on both sides of the aisle lately — including some pretty shocking ones. George Santos fake dog charity story – but nothing can touch Teflon Don when it comes to sheer volume of offence.
For another politician, being forced to sit for a deposition in a lawsuit accusing him of rape would be the lowest moment of his career. But for Donald Trump it’s just another drop of crude oil in the ocean. Honestly, did you know this happened??
Anyway, the former President of the United States really had to sit down last year and answer questions about sexual assault allegations. If you have forgotten the case among the sea of scandals, E. Jean Carroll written in his 2019 book Do We Need People? that Trump has forced himself on her Bergdorf’s dressing room in the mid ’90s. The story, which has been confirmed by Carroll’s friends over time, is harrowing. It flips on a dime from something in it Ella columnist thought it was a joke to meet all-too-real that will haunt the rest of life. He wrote:
“When the door of the dressing room was closed, he lunged at me, pushed me against the wall, hit my head hard, and his mouth on my lips. I was so surprised that I pushed him and started laughing again. He grabbed both of my hands and pushed me up to the wall twice, and, when I realized his size, he held me against the wall by his shoulders and put his hands in my coat shirt and pulled my tights. … The next time, still wearing the correct business clothes, shirt, tie, suit coat, overcoat, he opened his coat , unzip his pants, and, forcing his fingers in my private area, thrust his penis half – or completely, I’m not sure – in me.”
Mind you, he reveals at the end of the story that he never had sex with anyone again. In more than two decades.

Trump of course responded, suggesting it was a Democratic conspiracy, saying “shame on the people who make up fake stories about attacks to try to get publicity…
“He’s not my type.”
This is a huge defense – he obviously wouldn’t do this because he wasn’t his type. Well, that brings us to the deposition, which was finally unsealed on Wednesday.
The most shocking moment of the October sitdown was when Trump was shown a photo of his accuser from the ’90s, when he said she assaulted him. At first he didn’t recognize her – but then he surprised everyone in the room by saying:
“I don’t know who—it’s Marla.”
When asked to elaborate, he confirmed:
“It’s Marla, yes. That’s my husband.”
She thought she saw a photo of her ex-husband, Marla Maples. His lawyer regretted it, saying, “No, it’s Carroll.” But the damage was done. In one of his identifications, FPOTUS destroyed the entire defense of stupidity.
Ironically, the photo only shows Trump to refute the lie that he has never met – because he is also in the snap. That’s her on the left…

It’s not “gotcha” – it’s your own damn fault for getting this wrong. What an epic in itself.
BTW, you can’t blame him for having to confuse the two. This is Carroll in the 90s on his TV show, Ask E. Jean.

And this is Trump with Marla during their marriage, also in the mid-’90s. Something similar.

You can see why this is a case of silence. While his story hasn’t changed in nearly 30 years, he couldn’t keep it up for a few hours when he was fired. Is there anything coming? We’ll just have to see. But we can say one thing: we believe E. Jean.
