The President is among the 5,000 participants participating in the LDC5, including 47 Heads of State or government and 130 Ministers and Deputy Ministers.
He called on developed countries to urgently provide the most vulnerable countries with the help they need to drive socio-economic and environmental development.
Company leaders together with civil society, youth and other partners share plans, innovations, and recommendations in several areas: from increasing the participation of LDCs in international trade and regional integration to tackling climate change, strengthening global partnerships, supporting graduates, and using power. science, technology, and innovation.

The Fifth United Nations Conference on Least Developed Countries (LDC5) in Doha, Qatar ended on March 9, 2023. with member countries taking steps to implement the Doha Action Program, a ten-year plan to put the 46 most in the world. vulnerable countries are back on track to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The bold commitments at the conference marked a transformative turning point for the world’s poorest countries, whose development has been hampered by crises including COVID-19, climate change and deepening inequality.
“Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in Least Developed Countries is a litmus test for achieving the great writ of the 2030 Agenda, including by ensuring that no one – and no LDC – is left behind” said UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed. “This is why the Doha Action Program should be seen as a vehicle for SDG Acceleration.”
Under the theme ‘From Potential to Prosperity’, the conference aims to drive transformational change to positively impact the 1.2 billion people living in LDCs.
“The commitments made this week are a true embodiment of global solidarity and partnership and will pave the way for a new era of international cooperation,” said Rabab Fatima, Secretary-General of the Conference and UN High Representative for Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Development. Doha Action Programme
Discussions at the LDC5 centered on the delivery of the Doha Action Program for Least Developed Countries during the Decade 2022-2031, which aims to realize a new generation of renewed and strengthened commitments among the most developed countries and their partners, including the private sector. , civil society, and government.
The programme, agreed in 2022 after LDC5 was postponed due to the Omicron outbreak, outlines a transformative agenda to achieve LDCs’ potential. These measures include the development of food storage mechanisms for LDCs; an online university focused on STEM education, especially for women and girls; international investment support center; sustainable graduate support facilities; and comprehensive multi-hazard crisis mitigation and resilience building measures for the least developed countries.
The agreement reached this week will help LDCs to overcome the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, get back on track to achieve the SDGs, tackle climate change, and make steps towards sustainable and irreversible graduation.
