Dianne Feinstein Is Told She Already Announced Retirement In Statement

Feinstein’s office issued a news release saying the veteran senator will not seek re-election in 2024 but plans to finish out her current term. The statement also noted his achievements since he was first elected to the upper house in 1992.

“Well, I haven’t made that decision yet. I haven’t released anything yet,” Feinstein replied in the audio clip.

“Senator, we are issuing your statement,” the staffer told the lawmaker.

“You made a statement?” Feinstein replied. “I don’t know if they put it out. So, what is it. I think the time has come.

A spokesperson for Feinstein said the senator “endorsed it today, just confused about the timing,” Axios reported.

California Democratic Representatives Adam Schiff and Katie Porter have announced their intention to run for the seat.
