The perfect plan! Diane Kruger happy to be a parent with Norman Reedus – but she’s ready to be a mother whether she meets her fiance or not.
“You know, I don’t know. Maybe that’s what people say about women and those hours, just all of a sudden kick in. I mean, the truth is that I’ve had a child with or without someone attached,” Kruger, 46, said on Wednesday, February 22, episode of Dear Media’s “Divorce Is Not Dead” podcast. “I remember starting to feel like [it] in the mid 30s. Like, ‘Am I doing all this? Why am I working so hard, trying to find money and trying to live this life? What’s the point of it all?’”
At Inglorious Basterds star, who was in a decade-long relationship with Joshua Jackson before meeting Reedus, 54, in 2017, hinted that she and Dawson Creek alum, 44, tried to have a child together before calling it quits in 2016.
“I was in a very serious relationship at the time. We tried really hard to have children, which didn’t work,” she shared. “Then, I was single, and I thought, ‘Oh, you know what? Maybe it’s easier to do it yourself.’
He added, “You don’t have to ask anyone for permission to go to school or where you’re going to live. Just do it yourself.”
The German native revealed that she began looking for a different way to be a single mother before she and The Walking Dead alum started dating. However, less than a year into their romance – when Kruger was 42 years old – the couple welcomed daughter Nova Tennessee. (Jackson, for his part, is married Jodie Turner-Smith at 2019. The couple share their 3-year-old daughter Janie.)
Kruger realized that finding love forever with the Florida native allowed fate to take action. “When we realized we were going to have a baby, and of course it was this. I mean, Nova really happened when I least expected it and needed it the most in my life,” she said. “He is the best thing that happened to me, to us, in my life.”
While the duo has been out of the limelight since Kruger gave birth in 2018, the couple — who met on the set of the movie — have. sky in 2015 – has become more and more common with Roman over the years.
Actress National Treasure exclusively told Us Weekly in April 2019, it was wonderful to see the couple bond with their baby girl. “He just sees her with unconditional love,” she said, joking, “I want her to see me like that! … She’s so good to him.”
In May 2021, Krueger reflected on her whirlwind romance with Reedus, revealing that her life has improved since the couple welcomed their daughter into the world.
“The moment we heard her heartbeat for the first time and nothing will ever be the same again. So happy to see you grow up my little girl,” wrote star Troy via Instagram on Mother’s Day. “I will always love you @bigbaldhead for giving me a little angel and making life better❤️.”
