Delilah Hamlin had a seizure while filming the music video for his debut single, “Nothing Lasts Forever.”
In a recent interview, the 24-year-old daughter of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Add Chest59, and actor Harry Hamlin71, opened up about the “horribly painful” ordeal, saying it turned out “good” and explained where he found the strength to keep working.
“On the second day of shooting the music video, it was like nine hours a day and I had a seizure… We don’t know much about him yet. Even though it’s been years, we’re still trying to figure it out,” Delilah said on Entertainment Tonight on March 17.
“It’s probably one of the worst things I’ve done in a long time, but I have all the people I love,” she continued. “I was able to bring that emotion to the shoot the next day.”
Despite the devastating health crisis, Delilah said she was “proud of myself” for continuing to work.
“I do this all the time. It’s usually me now. I’m just like, ‘OK, wake up.’ When you don’t feel comfortable, but you have to do it today,” he said.
According to the model, it was his mother who instilled that work ethic in him.
“Lisa is always teaching me [that] if you, like die, if you vomit, if you vomit, what day. Go and do it. Show up for work,” he shared. “So I tried. I always try my best. There are days when I really can’t, but I try my best.”
Lisa, along with Harry, who also shared a 21-year-old daughter Amelia Hamlin with, they were part of Delila’s journey when she recorded her new single.
“When we recorded this song, I sent him the demo and then re-recorded the vocals, sent him, sent him everything. He was just the biggest supporter,” says Delilah. “When I got my last master, I was like, ‘Guys, we’re going to the car. [We’ve] must listen.’ We sat in my car, played, and it was special.
While Delilah admits that releasing her first track was “nerve-wrenching,” “Nothing Lasts Forever” means a lot to her “because it really encapsulates everything I’ve been doing for the past few years.”
“I have experienced this quietly and privately, [save] Instagram posts or stories occasionally talk about mental and physical health struggles. The song really represents what I’ve been through,” she says, paying tribute to the health struggles she’s faced in recent years, including chronic illness and an accidental overdose.
In addition to hoping that listeners can relate to the song in their own way, Delilah says she also wants to know that “literally, nothing lasts forever.”
“Even the good ones… I never say thank you for my body and my health. I just have to thank you more and I hope people can take away the fact that, even the good times don’t last forever,” he said. “You can get sick like this, you can lose like this. So that’s definitely the point. And then also, bad times don’t last forever.
“My mother always taught me to grow up [that] this too shall pass,” he added.
