This will not help the Tories win the LAB/LD switch
This poll shows a pretty clear divide between Tory and LAB/LD voters on what is the biggest issue for the Tories as they try to turn the tide of the election. This may be a turnout driver for the Tories but that is all. LAB and LD voters are more opposed.
I also argue that this is the only type of policy that can boost LAB / LD turnout and oppose the government on this issue. You can see them saying that this is an “evil party” in action.
Making an appeal to your base on an issue like this when you’re behind by 20% or more in the polls may not be the right approach.
