David Acquah scores late winner for Aarau against FC Vaduz

Ghanaian defender David Acquah was the match-winner for Aarau, heading home a dramatic stoppage-time goal to seal a 2–1 victory away to FC Vaduz in the Swiss Challenge League.

The centre-back rose highest in the 90+4th minute to complete a hard-fought comeback and cap a standout individual performance that earned him one of the best ratings on the pitch.

Aarau had taken the lead on 37 minutes through Shkelqim Vladi, who finished clinically to put the visitors in front after sustained pressure. Vaduz hit back right on the stroke of half-time, with Milos Cocic levelling in the 45th minute to send the sides into the break tied at 1–1. The hosts grew into the game after the interval, but Aarau continued to carry the greater attacking threat, outshooting Vaduz and creating more touches in the opposition box.

Acquah’s late intervention rewarded Aarau’s persistence and stretched their strong run of form. Fellow Ghanaian Daniel Afriyie also featured for Aarau, helping them see out the result. The win keeps momentum high as Aarau now prepare for their next Challenge League fixture away to Yverdon on Friday, May 15.
