Sopa 2023: Electronic tolls are permanently abolished
Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi announced during his State of the Province Address (Sopa) on Monday that the e-toll has been permanently cancelled.
The Prime Minister explained that all the finer details will be ironed out in the future.

Urip Esidimeni: R400m paid to victims, with more compensation expected

More than R400 million has so far been paid to the victims of the Life Esidimeni tragedy, with more to be paid in the future.
This was revealed at a meeting of the provincial legislature’s health committee on Friday, according to Gauteng Democratic Alliance (DA) health spokesperson Jack Bloom.

Eskom to implement Phase 6 on Sunday

Stage 6 rolling blackouts are set to continue in South Africa until Wednesday evening, according to Eskom’s outgoing chief executive (CEO) André de Ruyter.
“We will have load shedding stage 6 until the peak on Wednesday evening. And on Thursday, we will be able to start phasing down for load shedding stage 4 with load shedding stage 3 arriving at the end of the week,” he said.
