Cove Rangers announce signing of Ghanaian-Italian forward Edimond Oppong

Italian-born Ghanaian forward Edimond Oppong has joined Scottish club Cove Rangers ahead of the 2026/27 season. 

The 21-year-old signed a one-year deal to join the League One side after impressing the technical handlers of the club following a short trial.

Oppong featured in friendlies against Aberdeen and St Johnstone, earning him a contract with Cove Rangers.

“We brought Edi in as a trialist for our opening match against Aberdeen and throughout the first 45 minutes he was sharp, energetic and constantly looked to get on the front foot and cause problems for their left-back,” said Cove Rangers manager Paul Hartley.

“He’s someone who excites supporters because of his pace, his trickery and his willingness to take defenders on. He can play out wide, but he’s also capable of playing through the middle, which gives us another really good attacking option.

“He’s worked hard throughout pre-season, earned his opportunity and we’re delighted to have him with us. I’m looking forward to seeing him continue his development over the season.”

Oppong started his career with Union EuroCalcio before joining Middlesbrough in England, where he featured for the club’s Under-21 side. His last club before Cove Rangers was with National League North outfit Hereford.
