Somerton, Selby and Uxbridge are the first Westminster election defenses Sunak has faced since nine months as leader and PM. Another election to be held is already in the safe seat of LAB.
That the Tories are in for a difficult night is almost priceless and if there is a chance the party manages to retain one of the three seats that will certainly underpin the leadership position directly until the general election. This must be done before mid-January 2025.
I believe that Sunak’s tough policy decisions on asylum were not the big vote winners they thought they were and that “stopping the boat” was not an election issue.
I have almost not bet on the election today because I can not see any value although I have a small wager on the Tories manage to hold one of the three.
