Condolences trickle in for ACDP’s co-founder Lydia Meshoe

Condolences for the late African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP) co-founder and first lady Dr Lydia Meshoe slowly poured in as news of his death spread. The party announced Dr Lydia’s death on Wednesday evening.

Meshoe, who is also the wife of ACDP leader, Reverend Kenneth Meshoe, is remembered for her role in leading the women’s wing and South African politics.

While the cause of death is unknown, the party said a funeral announcement will be made soon.

“It is with great sadness that the ACDP confirms the death of the first lady of the ACDP, Dr Lydia Meshoe, today,” the party said in a tweet.

Dr Moshoe has been the founder of the party and heads the women’s wing of the ACDP, Women of Destiny. He is also a member of the NEC, a Gauteng provincial leader and a member of the Gauteng legislature.

The Economic Freedom Fighters described Dr Meshoe as “a woman of faith and conviction, who spent most of her life serving South Africans through her political party.”

“His death has caused pain not only to his political party, but also created a vacuum in a country that is desperate for ethical leadership. The EFF offers its condolences to the ACDP and Reverend Kenneth Moshoe for the death of an anchor and pillar of strength in his life,” said the EFF.
