If there’s a bad time for cable service to go down in the Philly area, it’s during the Super Bowl when the Eagles are playing.
With fans of the Philadelphia Eagles revved up to watch the team take on the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl, Comcast said it was “working furiously” to restore service to Xfinity customers in some city neighborhoods, according to the Associated Press.
According to Philadelphia Inquirer, the line was intentionally cut and the police were aware of the situation. A Comcast official told the newspaper that service has been restored to some but not all customers in time for the 6:30 pm kickoff.
Comcast spokeswoman Jen Bilotta told the AP that a fiberoptic cable break in the Kensington section of northeast Philadelphia resulted in an outage affecting several thousand households in the Kensington and Fishtown neighborhoods.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
