Cointelegraph has reached number 2 in the list of Top 100 2023: Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, who had a significant impact in 2022 and is expected to continue to influence the crypto space in 2023. Sitting among a fairly large list of Ethereum blockchain co-founders, Buterin as the person who wrote the white paper.

Ethereum has since become a dominant force in the crypto space, with two other co-founders also sitting atop the Cointelegraph 2023 Top 100 – Polkadot co-founder Gavin Wood at No. 5 and ConsenSys CEO Joseph Lubin at No. 15.
The Ethereum blockchain itself is making headlines in September 2022 due to the anticipation and completion of the Merger – an event that completes the transition from proof-of-work consensus to proof-of-stake consensus. Implemented with the help of Buterin and others, the transition to PoS means that blockchains should now require less energy than previous PoW mining.

Cointelegraph has produced a Top 100 list every year since 2020, and Buterin has held a position on the list every year. He sat at number 5 in 2020, dropped to number 12 in 2021, then entered at number 21 in 2022. This year, he is back and ranked higher than ever at number 2.
Cointelegraph has now published the entire list of Top 100 2023 except for the number 1 spot, from Digital Fashion at No. 100 to Buterin at No. Any guesses on the No. 1 spot for the biggest industry driver? Looking for it soon.
