CNN commentator Van Jones on Wednesday compared Donald Trump to “the evil Ferris Bueller” for gathering the indictment he wants after an investigation into payments to porn actor Stormy Daniels.
“Trump, obviously, is raising money from all of this,” said “Outfront” anchor Erin Burnett. “You know, there are reports that he wants to be handcuffed. He thinks this is all good for him. At least he thinks it’s all good for him if he doesn’t sue, it’s clear that he won. Is it a win-win?”
“You know, that means Wednesday,” Jones replied deadpan.
“In other words, it’s the Donald Trump phenomenon. Like, whatever’s going on, he’s found a way to make it work,” he said.
“He’s like an evil Ferris Bueller,” Jones continued, referring to Matthew Broderick’s character in the 1986 film “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” who skipped school by pretending to be sick and ending the “Save Ferris” fundraiser.
“You know my passion? They just get rid of things, and they just drive people crazy,” added Jones.
Jones, though, suggested Trump’s call for cash was “false advertising.”
“He said, ‘I’m going to get arrested on Tuesday, send me the money,'” Jones said. “Everybody who sends money. They don’t get caught. I mean, they’re just not trustworthy. The stuff they throw away.”
