A concerned resident of Chiana-Paga Constituency (Kassena-Nankana West District Assembly), Mr. Francis Atayure Abirigo commended the President of the Republic of Ghana, HE Nana Addo Dankwa Akufu-Addo for doing justice with mercy by calling for a disciplinary committee. (DC) to cancel the total sack condition given to 8 female students of Chiana Senior Secondary School in Kassena-Nankana West District in the Upper East Region.
He sent this to reporters on Saturday, January 14, 2023.
He said that Nana Addo has been acting like his father as he did in the Meek Mill Jubilee House video.
“Dad should just laugh but not bite himself,” he said.
Mr. Abirigo further appealed to the school disciplinary committee to act in the way the president has adopted and give a lesser punishment or no punishment at all considering that he is the first and has shown remorse in the video we have seen.
The attitude of mockery of students will appear among the students of the school towards this female student, including a lifelong tag for indiscipline, which is enough punishment for the 8 students.
“You cannot ignore the fact that you have repeatedly excused your children at home, so what the committee can do is forgive the student so that they can concentrate on their studies and the Ghana Education Service (GES) is taking intensive measures to encourage public discipline. “I am saying this because the GES and the school authorities including the president cannot free themselves from the indiscipline that plagues our education system”.
“When we are in high school, one cannot even insult the senior let alone the president, this can be the nemesis of the Free High School System (FSHS)”.
Concerned citizens who are themselves journalists and Development Communication Experts call on the media and all development stakeholders to draw attention to what the committee will do on the matter in the future.
“You are all agents of development and cannot sit unconcerned at a time when girls’ education is the talk of the day when 8 girls were fired or punished for expressing themselves in democracy” Mr. Abirigo said.
