Christian Atsu injured on right foot and having breathing difficulties after rescue

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano also reported earlier that the Ghanaian winger had difficulty breathing after being rescued.

“Christian Atsu has been found alive and has now been rescued from the wreckage and transported to hospital after sustaining an injury to his right leg and suffering from respiratory distress. Stay strong, Chris!” Romano wrote on Facebook.

On Monday, it emerged that the 31-year-old winger had been trapped in the rubble after the earthquake that devastated the country.

Atsu, who currently plays for Turkish club Hatayspor, was trapped in the rubble along with the club’s sporting director Taner Savut.

However, after several hours of searching for the duo, it was confirmed on Tuesday morning that the Ghanaian was finally found alive.

Hatayspor manager Mustafa Özat told Turkish radio channel Radyo Gol that the club’s sporting director has still not been found.

“Christian Atsu was removed from the wreckage with injuries,” Özat said, as quoted by BBC Sport.

“Unfortunately, our sports director Taner Savut is still in the wreckage. Hatay is very affected. We are coming to the end of the most dangerous hour.”

The world of football has united in wishing Atsu and all the victims of the earthquake as well, with some celebrities sending messages of goodwill.
