Chris Hughton appointed Black Stars coach
Former Newcastle United and Brighton manager Chris Hughton has been appointed head coach for the Black Stars.
He was previously a technical advisor to the team during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Following the departure of the previous head coach, Otto Addo, Hughton will lead the team with the support of assistant coaches George Boateng and Mas-Ud Didi Dramani.
“The Ghana Football Association is pleased to appoint Chris Hughton as Head Coach of the Black Stars following extensive deliberations between both parties,” the GFA said.
“The pledge is in line with the GFA’s vision to continue the formidable squad-building project that started with Otto Addo in charge of the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup tournament.
“Mr Hughton has been the Technical Adviser of the Black Stars for the past twelve months.
“GFA also decided to keep Assistant Coach George Boateng and Mas-Ud Didi Dramani.
“These three coaches are part of the technical team for the World Cup in Qatar.
“Details on the duration of the contract and terms of engagement will be announced in due course.
Hopes are high for Hughton as he aims to take the team to a new level after disappointing performances at the Africa Cup of Nations and the World Cup in 2022.
