MSNBC’s Chris Hayes delivered a scathing critique of Fox News and primetime personality Tucker Carlson over network owner Rupert Murdoch’s vow that the host “endorsed” the 2020 election of former President Donald Trump.
Fox News may be “the most destructive institution in all of American politics,” Hayes said. The network is facing a $1.6 billion defamation lawsuit from Dominion Voting Systems over baseless claims made by its hosts about the company’s voting machines going against Trump.
“In some ways, the most telling part of this story is how sad these people are, how cowardly, how scared they are,” Hayes said. “It’s so scary that it means they’ll do anything to keep the audience, to keep the money coming, to keep the power and prestige coming.”
“When he comes from a privileged background, he’s washed up on multiple networks, his show has been canceled, he’s had to go back to weekend mornings on Fox. That’s tough. He’s obviously afraid of failing again, washing up on a third cable network, and apparently willing to do whatever it takes to make sure that doesn’t happen.
