Chris Christie Nails Donald Trump’s Strategy As The Law Closes In

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R), who once had Donald Trump’s ear, tried to get inside the former president’s head on Sunday. (See the video below.)

Asked to analyze Trump’s behavior when he predicted he would be arrested this week over Stormy Daniels’ allegations and urged supporters to protest, a Trump confidant said: “The circus continues.”

“They’re just profiting and doing well in chaos and chaos,” Christie said on ABC’s “This Week.” “And they want to create chaos and mayhem on their terms.”

But Christie predicted Trump would never be able to overcome the bad optics of being arrested. The Manhattan District Attorney said he would indict Trump for paying porn star Stormy Daniels to keep quiet about his relationship before the 2016 election.

Trump himself said the arrest would come Tuesday. CNN reports the former president expects the legal battle “to help him politically.”

“Being indicted is not going to help anybody,” said Christie, a former federal prosecutor.

“I don’t think that many Americans don’t believe that Donald Trump had an affair with Stormy Daniels, and don’t believe that he paid money at the end of the campaign to keep it quiet. So, I don’t think that the American people can see this as a big crime,” Christie said.

“But the vision of the former president of the United States being processed, fingerprinted, removed – you know, what else does Trump want… But if he’s indicted, I don’t think it’s going to help anybody.
