Chleo International to build a 60-seater toilet facility for Accra High School
A sod-cutting ceremony has been held to mark the start of construction work on a 60-seat toilet facility for Accra High School.
The project sponsored by Chleo International Company Limited will see a 40-seater toilet facility constructed for the school’s class block and 20-seater also for the girls’ hostel.
The project which is expected to be completed in six months will be replicated in other schools in the country to ease the many challenges associated with a pleasant place for students.
As part of the school’s centenary celebrations, Chleo International Company Limited will also give Accra High School a facelift by painting the entire school.
Speaking at the sod cutting ceremony on March 3, 2023, the Principal of Accra High School, Madam Evelyn Nabia, explained, “this project is supposed to be done within six months, the latest in the first week of September 2023. This 40 seats. project will be built around a block of classrooms, 20 for girls and 20 for boys. The other 20 seats will be around the girls’ dormitory”.
Mrs. Evelyn Nabia expressed her appreciation to the Chief Executive Officer of Chleo International Company Limited, Mr. Christian Owusu Ansah who has supported the school.
“As a school, for us, this project is timely because the facilities in the school are as old as when the school was moved from Aayaloloo to its current location. As the school was moved there in the past, the population is not as large as it is now. So there is a lot of pressure on the few toilet facilities we have. So when he brought this information, we received good news. So in the centenary year, we see that this will be part of the centenary package and the fact that our school will also be given a facelift, it will be bright for the centenary. We are very happy and grateful to Chleo International for this award,” he said.
On his side, Mr. Owusu Ansah explained that there is a lack of attention to the provision of toilets in the country.
According to Mr. Owusu Ansah, 20 years ago he had a vision to help solve the problem of toilets in the country, so he had to build toilets in schools.
He added that the GH?2.5 million funds allocated for the project will be mobilized from the public adding that he wants to start this project across the country to augment the existing ones.
“20 years ago I had this vision when I went to Japan. I realized that the toilets and the market were so clean that one could sleep there without any problems. But I saw that the same cannot be said about our toilets. This is a project that will carried out in other schools across the country. Most girls pick STIs and other diseases from the toilets in their schools. I want to overcome this situation to improve the toilet facilities available in various schools,” said the CEO of Chleo International Company Limited.
The ceremony was attended by the Chairman of the PTA, the Chairman of the school management and some old students.
