Vusumuzi Mncube’s strike four minutes after half-time was enough for Truter’s men to record a second consecutive win, while Chiefs made a comeback after beating the Golden Arrows last weekend.
Leaders celebrate 53rd birthday at home but could not make the most of the chance, Caleb Bimenyimana could not find shooting boots on the day.
The result means Amakhosi remain 13 points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns in the table exactly at mid-season.
“We started slowly, then we gained momentum and took control of the game,” Zwane told SuperSport TV after the match.
Sekhukhune went ahead in the 49thTh minute when Dove Wome lost and Mncube beat Khune with a low shot.
“Sometimes it happens, you question yourself but I can’t blame the kids,” added Zwane.
“The pitch doesn’t make life easy either, it’s a bit soft and bumpy, but with the chances we create we can bury it. Today it wasn’t.
Keagan Dolly had to be injured for the Chiefs in the 63rdrd minutes, but Zwane didn’t feel like he was disrupting Chiefs’ momentum.
“I was really in front only after introducing Ashley (Du Preez), Mduduzi (Shabalala) and Kgoagelo (Sekgota),” said Zwane.
“We tried to put pressure on and force mistakes, but we were just unlucky.
“I think we should have had a penalty when Caleb ran towards the ball and pulled it.
“Guys tried and conceded a goal on a play we shouldn’t have. It was our fault.”
