But Amakhosi will not be too disheartened by their 1-0 loss to runaway league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns at the FNB Stadium on Saturday night.

Zwane’s men are standing tall against the unforgiving Sundowns, who are on a 12 Premier League win in a row and are on the verge of a seventh league title on the spin.

Neo Maema was the hero for Rulani Mokwena’s Sundowns with a winner, as he was on Monday in a 1-0 win against SuperSport United.

Masandawana will feel a bit lucky to take three points from Amakhosi, who threw everything away on Saturday.

Sundowns started well and showed their intent in the game early on.

Just five minutes into the game, Themba Zwane’s effort hit the woodwork, with Itumeleng Khune in the Amakhosi goal having been beaten.

Persistence

Sundowns’ tenacity in attack finally paid off in the 20th minute when Neo Maema completed a brilliant team move to give the visitors the lead.

After that, Amakhosi had chances in the opening period and could have found an equalizer but just couldn’t find the right pass in the final third.

The second half took the same pattern with Sundowns not worrying and enjoying taking their time on the ball.

The commander took responsibility but could have been too quick to approach and still couldn’t find a way to seriously threaten them

Sundowns also had chances to extend their lead but could not take it.

Sundowns are now 17 points clear at the top of the table with over 10 games to go in the season.

With Chiefs losing for the third time, even if they fight back, Zwane will be under pressure and the fans will be demanding a change.
