The Mampong Akuapem Apesemakahene, Nana Yirenkyi I, has thrown his weight behind Sammi Awuku as he laces his shoes to contest the parliamentary primaries of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Nana Yirenkyi believes he has what it takes to lead Akuapem North as an MP, given the prevailing situation in the constituency.
Speaking to the media about the fabricated stories aimed at tarnishing Mr. Awuku’s image, the hope stressed that the hate campaign cannot stop Mr. Awuku from contesting or change the readiness of his constituents to support him.
“Sammi Awuku is what the chiefs and people of Akuapem North need. In any case, the seat of Akuapem North does not belong to anyone; you can contest, campaign, and when you are elected, you do what you can, so stop it the attack,” he said.
“Look,” he added, “the people are for Sammy Awuku. If he stands up today, he will secure the votes we need. We know the people who launched this campaign of hate and false accusations against Sammy; we know who is in end these false stories, and we are ready for them.”
People who are said to be related to the current New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP for the constituency are believed to have launched a hate campaign against Mr. Awuku, ostensibly to reduce his chances of winning the parliamentary election and will win the seat.
The allegation has been refuted by Sammi Awuku’s camp, with the assurance that he is in pole position for the annexation of the seat.
