Chicago P.D pulls out all the stops every week – but not enough compared to its 200th episode, which meets Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciatiand Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) trying to collect a dark case while stuck on a busy “L” subway train.
One of the most terrifying in Chicago
“It’s a pretty chaotic process. There are a lot of moving parts. I don’t remember last night, let alone a few episodes ago, but it’s definitely like the most ambitious,” Flueger, 39, said exclusively. Us Weekly from “Trapped,” which aired on February 22. “You’ve got some guys rocking the train grip with two-by-fours to make it look like we’re moving. You’ve got hair and makeup that’s all rushed because we’re taking inappropriate pictures. … It’s all over the map. So, everybody trying to track down their location, and Marina is in the middle of it and it’s chaos. People are shouting and cheering, not out of anger, but trying to get things done.
At Daughter’s Diary The actor compared the production to a blockbuster movie. “The movie will take this sequence for what, two months?” he asked Squerciati, 38, during a joint interview. “It’s been like that for a long time. And we try to do it in three or four days. God bless our crew.”

Lori Allen/NBCThe NBC procedural kept things moving while shooting each scene. “You don’t get a lot of exposure on TV,” Squerciati said. “There is no time. Our executive producer is very nice and nice and if I need it, he will give it to me, but I don’t try. Our crew is working, so I don’t want to push everyone. I will use the card when I really need it, but you really try and hit it on the first or second try.
Burgess’s trauma is slowly catching up with him in season 10. And during Wednesday’s episode, the Intelligence officer is forced to face his past experiences while working on the case with Ruzek. (He had previously been kidnapped, shot and almost killed, and started showing signs of PTSD when his hands accidentally started shaking in episode 8.)
One Chicago Couple Through the Years
“Marina really brings it [this episode] and I haven’t seen everything, but crush the city, one population, Marina,” Flueger gushed from the costar. “Here he will have 19 people in his face moving his clothes, putting blood on him, taking off his clothes because he is very bloody, this, this and so on. And then he will act. And his ability to accelerate … [maybe] The chaos going on around us helps him. But I was constantly impressed.

Lori Allen/NBCBurgess has a panic attack in “Trapped,” which Squerciati prepares for by watching online videos. “There was an ABC reporter who had a panic attack on air. There was a model who was filming and had a panic attack on her Instagram and posted it,” she explained. us. “I do a lot of work. And I hope it shows because … I really want to be grounded in reality.
Flueger said: “I can’t imagine how tired he is at the end of the day. Then he has to go back to real life, which is also more complicated than my life. Can’t imagine.”
The actress and her husband, a Chicago-based lawyer, Eli Kay-Oliphant, are the parents of a daughter, who was welcomed in 2017. “You can’t say to your child, ‘Listen, can you go to school today? Because mom is tired, ‘” he teased. Flueger added: “‘Mom caught a guy who faked his death for the last two days. So the school lunches are for you to make.’ That is not reality.”
Flueger and Squerciati have worked on the crime drama since its debut in 2014. The show also stars Jason Beghe, LaRoyce Hawkins, Amy Morton and Tracy Spiridakos.
To celebrate the 200th episode, the cast and crew did a cake cutting on set, but will find another time to capture the big milestone.
“I think it’s the end of the season. There’s a lot of work that goes into this event. It’s hard to find time to celebrate,” Squerciati said.
Best TV Couple of All Time
Flueger noted that there was “no slowing down” because the episode was “very ambitious.” He later joked that trying to remember the past 200 episodes has also proven difficult.
“I would say 99.9 percent of the time I caught an episode that wasn’t recorded last night, I was like, ‘What? That’s amazing,'” he said us. “It’s going to make more of my image. I remember what happened after the work day more than I remember the work day. Like, ‘Oh, I remember. That’s where we went on weekends, and we got the party bus everywhere.’ That’s how I measure my time – less work time and more fun time.
As for Squerciati, he can determine episodes based on weather conditions. “The only thing I’ll remember is if it’s especially cold. Especially hot or if I’m injured. I’m like, ‘Oh, right. I’m holding my kneecap.'”
