In its unflinching drive to carve a roadmap for individuals and corporate organizations to win big in 2023, the pool of game fillers has equipped career professionals and entrepreneurs with prerequisite tools and innovative nuggets.
This is at the debut of the “Rock Your 2023 Like A Champion” (RY2023) mentoring program held in the Victoria Island area of Lagos state and supported by CHAMP, a full-scale professional services firm trusted by high-performing business leaders.
The session began with the audience singing the Champions Creed, led by CHAMP founder and Keynote Speaker Dr Abiola Salami. After that, the Forbes Board of Trainers started the presentation by sharing with the participants the requirements for producing quality results.
He explained: “You need to be a quality person in order to produce quality results. A quality person must develop quality behavior and quality relationships, engage in quality conversations and must have quality executive presence as well as quality emotional intelligence.
The World Class Performance Strategy also highlights the seven people most important to success. Among them are “Our colleagues, our bosses, our subordinates, our prospects, our customers, our friends, and our family”.
Salami, who doubles as the host, also outlined one of The Champ Tribe’s golden rules to reach the zenith, “Treat people well even if they treat you less”.
He provides extensive insight into the importance of developing a healthy relationship with your boss, strategies for developing a healthy relationship with your boss and five ways leaders can inspire high performance in their teams.
While listing recipes for success, Salami raises the alarm about the implications of procrastination and other distractions and he offers strategic insights on how to overcome procrastination and manage distractions. According to him, not adhering to the strategic vision can prevent anyone from achieving success.
To help participants achieve their goals easily, they are made to write down their goals for 2023, the habits they want to break and what they want to do. They will participate in a 5-month mentorship program tagged Made4More Accelerator 2023.
Meanwhile, five panelists enlightened the audience with their experiences to climb the ladder of success.
Among them are seasoned security expert and CVO of Digital Encode, Dr Obadare Peter Adewale; TDL International CEO and ESG Consultant for the World Bank, Dr Bankole Allibay; Chief Executive Officer of Stratevium Nigeria Ltd, Dr Prisca Ndu; CEO of TAA International, Dr. Akin Akinpelu; and a member of the House of Representatives for Afijio LGA in Oyo State, Hon. Seyi Adisa.
For Allibay, there is a need to look inside. “Build your own personal story. Focus on your strengths. Look for people who understand the value of what you do. You must understand the market. Financial discipline, you must understand every value that you do”.
After the fast, Obadare, the most trusted and multi-award winning cybersecurity professional in Africa, enlightened the participants to be specific when defining their goals. “You have to be specific with your goals. You have to pursue them,” he emphasized. “In the pursuit, you must be deliberate; nothing will happen except by your actions.”
Sharing some principles with the audience in a rectangular room setting, Adisa explained that life is in the future. No season, he said, is permanent. “Use whatever season you find yourself in. Find your gift. Grow it. Put it on yourself.”
As for Ndu, he must move forward and uphold. “In whatever you do, be the best you can be. Don’t follow the crowd; be yourself. Dream big. Stand bold. Be careful who you dream about.
To end the session, Akinpelu briefly spoke about the power of association and relationships. “In life, you will pass people who will measure your life. Don’t have a myopic view. And also learn to deposit into people’s emotional bank account.
With the Lagos and Abuja mentoring programs successfully completed, all roads lead to Dallas, Houston and Washington DC in the USA on January 28 and February 4 this year for the next edition of Rock Your 2023 Like A Champion.
