The Commandant General (CG) of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Dr Ahmed Audi, has promised to give automatic jobs to the families of seven officers killed by bandits in Kaduna State.
Audi said this while presenting a bank check by the Mining Development Company Limited to the relatives of the late officer ambushed and killed by terrorists in Birnin Gwari, Saturday in Kaduna.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the CG, who was represented by the Assistant Commanding General (ACG), Zone B, Muhammad Haruna, did not disclose the amount given to him.
NAN recalls that seven personnel and five others were killed in an ambush in Kuriga village in Chikun Local Government Area on January 9, while on official duty.
Audi, while sympathizing with the family of the deceased officer, appreciated the efforts of the mining company to identify with the corps since the killing of the officer.
“Since the killing of the seven officers, the mining company has identified us, they have not abandoned us and shown that you have the welfare of the officers,” he said.
He requested that the families can use the tokens received for the benefit of the late official’s children.
The CG said the corps is also working hard to ensure early payment of benefits to relatives.
Earlier, the Managing Director of the mining company, Dr. Mohammed Usaini, said the company found it necessary to identify with, and to give a token to the family of the deceased officer.
Also, the Commandant of the Kaduna NSCDC Command, Idris Adah, said, “The CG does not like the sudden killing of the officers, but since death is inevitable, there is nothing we can do.”
“Death is a necessary journey; it will come when it comes, we will only pray to God for the rest of the lost soul,” he said.
The Commandant thanked the mining company for remembering the family of the deceased officer in their time of greatest need.
According to him, although no amount of money can replace the deceased, the heirs should use the money properly for the benefit of the children left behind.
Responding on behalf of the families of the deceased seven officers, Alhaji Baba Ladan, thanked the commanding general and the state commander for being with them in their time of grief.
