In our CEO wellness series, we ask executives about their daily habits to find out what tactics they use to reduce stress and maintain their well-being.
Beatrice Dixon is the co-founder and CEO of The Honey Pot Company, a feminine health manufacturer of plant origin, with the aim of providing a healthy alternative vagina for feminine care made from powerful and effective ingredients. Before founding The Honey Pot Company, Beatrice worked as a pharmacy technician and employee at Whole Foods—experiences that helped her understand her position at the intersection of science and health where The Honey Pot Company sits today.
Coffee or tea? And what do they put in?
I love peppermint tea, so you’ll find me with that in hand. For days even if I want a little extra pep in my step, and I want to have a cup of coffee, I like to mix it with the adaptogen mix of Peak + Valley.
do you have breakfast
I don’t eat breakfast because I really believe in listening to your body, and I often don’t know where I am and what’s available. This month I’ve been starting my mornings with bone broth to coat my gut, fuel me, and keep me full while I work out.
Tell us about your exercise routine.
I’m always on the go, so having something I can do no matter the location is important to me. I love a good yoga session, whether it’s a class in a busy city or even in a hotel room or private space. I bring a yoga mat with me when I travel just in case I don’t have time to jump into class but still want to take the time to stretch and move my body. I also use this time as a moment to rest from all the craziness, and have a quiet moment.
How many hours do you sleep at night?
I need sleep to be the best human I can be, so I really try to get eight hours a night.
How to relieve stress?
Yoga, meditation, mindfulness practice, and spending time with loved ones. I also quit social media and the internet. When you run a company there are always distractions, and it’s important to take some quiet time to think and calm down.
According to your phone, how much screen time did you average per day from last week?
Screen time is running low! Monday to Friday I clock about a couple of hours a day, then on the weekend I barely use any technology. I really prioritize spending time with my loved ones so I try to be present and not on the screen.
What app do you use the most?
Apple Music. You’ll find a meditation playlist there (which I do every day), and a music playlist that I play depending on the vibe of the day or the moment.
When was the last time you took a day off? What are you doing?
I didn’t know there was such a thing as taking a break from being a CEO. I always think about The Honey Pot and what it can do to serve humanity the best. At the end of last year, I went on a week-long vacation to Costa Rica with my whole family and it was pretty magical. I never capture those moments.
What does your company do to prioritize employee well-being?
We encourage our team to take the time they need to take care of themselves. We know that life can be fluid, and work needs to be flexible. We also see and treat our employees as human beings versus just cogs in a system. It is important that people understand that health is the most important thing for us.
What’s your favorite treat?
I’m not really a sweet tooth person, but if someone orders dessert and it happens to interest me, I’ll give it a try.
What is your favorite health product?
I have so many! I love the Be Rooted journal. My Gaiam yoga mat is another favorite that I use a lot. I also just discovered Grounded, a really beautiful Black-owned plant company.
