Celtic’s Scottish League Cup title defense remains on track after goals from Daizen Madea and Giorgos Giakoumakis sealed a 2-0 win over Kilmarnock to reach another final.
Japan striker Madea turned Kyle Lafferty’s effort into the net after 18 minutes at Hampden Park as Celtic looked set to take another step towards lifting the trophy for the sixth time in seven years.
Giakoumakis completed the victory in the 95th minute, after Maeda had a second goal disallowed after a VAR review and Reo Hatate saw a strike also ruled out.
Hoops goalkeeper Joe Hart denied Killie substitute Christian Doidge’s 76th-minute equaliser, while an appeal for a late penalty was also turned down after Giakoumakis clashed with Joe Wright at the end.
Celtic will now face either Rangers or Aberdeen in the final on February 26.
