Ozempic has become a hot topic when it comes to weight loss – with some stars confirming that they have used the drug when people refused.
The Type 2 diabetes drug, which is traditionally used to improve glycemic control, has made headlines as various Hollywood stars allegedly use it to shed pounds quickly. Star like Chelsea Handler, Kyle Richards and others have said about diet style.
Handler, for her part, admitted during a January 2023 episode of the “Call Her Daddy” podcast that she accidentally took the drug. She explained her anti-aging doctor prescribed her something called Semaglutide, which is another name for Ozempic.
At Chelsea Lately alum claims her doctor told her the drug was fine to use if she wanted to “lose five pounds.” The comedian didn’t know what the drug was until a friend told him.
“I came back from holiday and injected myself,” said the former Chelsea the host remembers. “I went to lunch with my girlfriend a few days later, and she was like, ‘I haven’t eaten anything. I’m so nauseous, I’m on Ozempic.’ I was like, ‘I’m a little nauseous too.’ But I just came back from Spain and I thought I was jet-lagged. I’ve been there for like a month. White privilege.”
Once Handler found out what the recipe actually was, she stopped using it but admitted she still has some in her house.
“I’m not there anymore. It’s very irresponsible,” he said Are You There, Vodka? It’s Me, Chelsea the author explains. “I’m an irresponsible drug user, but I’m not going to take diabetes medicine. I tried, and I’m not going to do it. That’s not for me. That’s not for me.”
Richards, meanwhile, was accused of using diabetes medication in January 2023 after posting a picture of herself showing off her abs in a bathing suit. At The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star took to social media to address the speculation.
“I don’t take Ozempic. Never,” Richards commented Page SixInstagram at that time. The reality star responded to another Instagram user and added, “I’ve never tried Ozempic and it’s not from plastic surgery. I had a breast reduction in May. I’m honest about what I did. But if you give credit plastic surgery makes you better, then pop up ma’am 😘.
After slamming the rumours, fellow Bravo personality Melissa Gorga admitted that even he thought Richards was using Ozempic at first.
“I’m not going to lie, when I first saw him, I was like, ‘Oh he took that thing,'” The Real Housewives of New Jersey star said when January 2023 appeared on “Jeff Lewis Live” SiriusXM radio show. “And then, when he [denied it], I was like, ‘Oh, OK, maybe not.’ You know, I don’t know. I didn’t even text and ask.”
