It was an emotional atmosphere at the Adjiringanor Astro Turf in Accra earlier today, March 4, when the one-week observation of the late Christian Atsu Twasam was held.
As expected, several entertainment figures, sports icons including active and retired football players and government officials criticized the event.
Among the entertainment personalities spotted by Graphic Showbiz at the ceremony were CEO of EIB Network, Nathaniel Adisi Anokye popularly known as Bola Ray, Christabel Ekeh, Kwesi Arthur, Lydia Forson, Grace Ashley and Patoranking Nigeria.
Also, former Black Stars players including Sulley Muntari, Asamoah Gyan, Kwadwo Asamoah are also there to support the family in this devastating time.
The event field was flooded with a sea of red and black that reflected the plight of hundreds of mourners who crowded the scene to pay their respects to the family.
Twasam’s family, which the deceased belonged to announced on March 17 as the date of burial of the deceased Hatayspor player. It will take place in the forecourt of the State House.
Even two weeks after his death, some Ghanaians continue to pay tribute to the former Chelsea and Newcastle player.
In a Facebook post earlier today, Bola Ray said, “Your legacy lives on, thank you legend”.
Ghanaian Gospel musician Grace Ashley has also paid tribute with a new song titled, Nante Yie.
The song titled ‘Nante Yie’ which also mentions the late Junior Agogo, was produced by Grace’s new label Seal Records.
Before the launch, it was officially presented to the Christian Atsu family.
Christian Atsu, 31, died in Turkey when he was caught in the earthquake of 7.7 on the Richter scale that occurred on Monday, February 6, 2023.
Atsu lives in an apartment in Hatay city that suffered major damage during the earthquake.
