Gerwyn Price is out of the Masters after losing 10-8 to Dirk van Duijvenbode
Gerwyn Price suffered a second-round defeat at the Cazoo Masters at the hands of Dirk van Duijvenbode, while world champion Michael Smith advanced safely to the quarter-finals.
Price went out after going down 10-8 to Van Duijvenbode in Milton Keynes, the Netherlands failed to make the most of the five darts match in the penultimate leg before sealing the victory with an 11-darter.
Van Duijvenbode, who has lost 15 of 16 meetings with Price, told him pdc.tv: “The match darts I had before were the hardest darts I had ever thrown.

“I always set myself a high standard, so if I can’t reach an average of 100 per game, I’m not happy, but I’m happy with how I made myself in the last leg.”
Van Duijvenbode will now face Chris Dobey, who beat Luke Humphries to victory by the same scoreline.
Michael Smith got over Ross Smith 10-7 and next will play Danny Noppert, 10-9 win over Stephen Bunting.
Ross Smith had won the European Championship final between the pairs in October and shot 126, 130 and 136 combinations en route to a 4-2 lead at the Marshall Arena before the world champions fought back.
And Michael Smith said: “The reception I got was unreal and I had to hurry, because I was very busy.
“The first session when Ross checked 126 and 130, I thought it was the European Championships again!
“Every time he left a ton-plus to finish, he got hit, but I went in, I took the opportunity and I’m happy to get the job done.”
Five-time Masters champion Michael van Gerwen beat Jose de Sousa 10-7 to set up a meeting with Rob Cross, who advanced to the last eight after winning 10-6 from his joint-highest-grossing match with Gary Anderson. in the history of the competition.
Cross and Anderson fired in eight 180s each and averaged 112.32 and 111.17 respectively.
The other quarter-final will be between 2020 winner Peter Wright and 2021 winner Jonny Clayton.
Wright beat Dave Chisnall 10-7 and Clayton beat James Wade, winning 10-3.
