Catelynn Lowell has been attracting a lot of negative attention lately.
Last week, Catelynn was criticized for telling her mom on Teens: Family Reunion that Ashley Jones was pregnant.
(To be fair, Jones was in a fight with Brianna DeJesus, and Cate’s disclosure was made out of concern for her friend’s safety.)
Now, Cate finds herself at the center of a Family Reunion-related controversy, which, fittingly enough, involves her family.

This season of TMFR focuses on cast members’ relationships with their mothers, and viewers agree that Cate’s scenes with April’s mother are among the most disturbing.
April is portrayed as an alcoholic who often gets drunk on camera.
But now, Catelynn’s half-sister, Sara Haviland, has contradicted that portrayal with a series of TikToks accusing Cate and MTV of lying about the severity of April’s problems.
N
“MTV shows what it will give the audience and it clearly works but you can’t judge people 14 years ago,” Sarah wrote on TikTok.
“The only time my sister talks to my mom is that she takes care of her kids which is often lol.
“I don’t care what anyone wants to say, I will always support my mother. MTV portrays him as s–t ALL the time for [their] his own view,” he continued.

“Take it as you wish. If Cate wants to portray her as bad why is my mother always [watch] their children, because clearly they are not what MTV portrays them to be.
From there, Sara attacked the Teen Mom audience who criticized her mother.
“I’m sick of you talking nonsense about my mother,” he said.

“You want to say that he’s an addict and he’s a drunkard and an alcoholic and you want to order him and his dog. It’s not good and you don’t know anything…
“I’m going deeper because I don’t have a contract with MTV and I’m sick of you following my mom. And I’m sick of Catelynn dogging my mom…” Sara continued.
“He doesn’t drink all the time, maybe every two weeks.”
“And yes, he’ll drink when MTV is on because MTV makes him out to be a bad person all the time…my mom’s not stuff st.”
“She was afraid that Tyler would leave her, so why did Catelynn give up on Carly? Hmm,”
“Catelynn has PTSD that’s caused by trauma and all of this is growing up, OK? Well me and Catelynn are not far apart.

“We’re four years apart, so if she’s going through this trauma from childhood, shouldn’t I be traumatized?” she said. “Because I sure don’t have trauma like Catelynn. It’s all for show!”
Obviously, Sara is sounding off on some issues that are not well understood here.
Someone who only drinks “every couple of weeks” can still be an alcoholic, and two people can live through the same event, only one of them is traumatized by the experience.
Luckily, Cate quickly set the record straight with a marathon Instagram Live session where she dismantled all of her sister’s arguments.

“I have a sister named Sarah, she was on TikTok yesterday and posted a video saying a lot of things, saying that everyone doesn’t know my truth … she said like, ‘We’re only four years apart, and if Catelynn has all this trauma, why am I no trauma?’” Cate began.
“Dogs don’t know they have trauma, because they never work with st,” he continued.
“He couldn’t keep working. He would work for a day or a week and then stop. He always had trauma, he didn’t know what it was. He didn’t know what he was doing, but he had it.

Lowell then explains that he has helped Sarah for years, including one occasion when he bought his sister’s trailer to live in after April was kicked out.
“He’s trying to act like it’s all fake. He’s even saying things like, ‘The reason Catelynn put her daughter up for adoption is because she’s afraid Tyler is going to leave her.’ That’s not very accurate,” Catelynn said.
“I wasn’t forced to adopt. I made my own f-king decision! Nobody forced me to do it.”

“I have PTSD and panic disorder and I know this because I was diagnosed by the best psychiatrist and psychologist,” she continued.
Cate’s husband, Tyler Baltierra, also attacked Sarah.
“The courage of some of my in-laws is surprising (but not surprising). .. I wish I could say I was surprised…but I would be lying,” Tyler wrote in a comment left on one of Catelynn’s posts.

“My husband really did nothing to make the rude, cruel and vulgar comments that his brothers made about him (in public and in private) and to be honest, I don’t get angry anymore when it happens (since I’m used to his family treating him he’s like that),” he said.
“I’m just sad for him.”
Sarah has yet to respond to Tyler and Cate’s rebuttals — but something tells us this feud is far from over!
