Captain Sandy Yawn have a lot to deal with in this season of Below Dec after temporarily stepped to Captain Lee Rosbach while he recovers from health problems. However, he has no regrets about his decision. Especially choosing to burn stew, Camilla Lamb.
“I stand by that,” Captain Sandy recently told E! News. “First of all, I don’t fire people unless I have the facts, and secondly, I don’t fire people because of favoritism or non-favoritism. I fire people because if they’re the only one around whom everything else thrives, that’s a problem that needs to be solved.” get rid of it
Captain Sandy also explains that Camille remains reluctant to learn because she can’t take constructive criticism without becoming defensive or rude.
“Sometimes people just go through life thinking what they’re doing is OK just because they were never taught the right thing,” Sandy said. “I was that person until someone pointed it out, but I had to listen and still be able to be taught.”
However, Captain Sandy said his decision to fire Camille was a “last resort” and that “firing people is not fun.”
“Remember I’m on Captain Lee’s boat – the last thing I want to do is start firing the crew,” he said.
Where the two of them are now, Sandy reveals that they had a “maritime fundraiser” recently and Camille, as well as others. Below Deck stars, showed up to show their support. However, Sandy is quick to point out that she and Camille are “not friends”.
“I’m not friends with Camille, we’re not friends. She showed up, I like her support, and like other friends in the industry. So it’s a good term? I don’t see a good term. I have to say that I’m very neutral about the crew,” he explained .
Camille isn’t the only crew member to have a run-in with Captain Sandy this season. In the newly released midseason trailer for the show, head stew, Fraser creature, looks get into a heated spat with Below Deck Mediterranean captain.
According to Captain Sandy, what he saw in the trailer was the result of Fraser “joining in the rumours” on the boat. A move Sandy calls cancer.
“When you lead the team, you have to kill it. It becomes cancer of the boat. It starts permeating the boat, and takes morale down, and if you don’t like your captain, well, that’s something you have to get over,” he explained.
Still, Captain Sandy says Fraser is a good foodie, but he’s still learning, adding that he likes people who “do their best.”
“Fraser wants to do a good job, he wants to be perfect, he wants to please everyone,” Sandy told E!. “He’s doing his best. Again, this is his first season as Chief Stew in his life. He understands. I don’t take it personally, but what I have to do is shut up. You don’t respect your friends if you don’t have a good line. People have to led.”
Below Deck airs Monday nights at 8pm EST on Bravo.
