Candiace Dillard-Bassett open up about how her husband, Chris Bassettdeal with allegations of inappropriate behavior faced by Gizelle Bryant and Ashley Darby in the middle of the seventh season of Real Housewives of Potomac.
After Gizelle blamed Chris for making her uncomfortable during a private conversation in the sixth season reunion and Ashley called her out for sending DMs at night and making a pass at her friend, Candiace admitted that she was “unwell” and “very. hurt” by the woman’s statement.
“He is not well. As [Dorinda Medley] would say, ‘Not good, b-tch,'” Candiace told Page Six’s Virtual Reali-Tea podcast. “She was not well for some time. It’s heart eff for someone to have this image painted of someone because that’s what Gizelle did… She painted an image of someone who doesn’t belong to her. She created a narrative that is really false and destructive and painful.
Although Candiace and Chris were “blown away” by the amount of support they received from fans, many of them called “BS” in the allegations and said they “didn’t believe it,” He said there is always that “0.5 percent who say. , Oh, he did.’”
“There will be headlines that will live on the internet saying that my husband is a predator, and you can’t undo it. And that’s why it hurts people who can make things,” he said. “It hurts, and it hurts a lot.”
After breaking the fourth wall to defend Chris, telling producers, “If this is going to hurt my wife, you don’t want me here,” Candiace compared Gizelle’s antics toward her husband to “a rehearsed Broadway show. Two tickets.”
“In my mind, I was like, ‘What’s going on? What’s going on? What are we doing?'” she recalled. “You can’t be happily married [on this show]. That is the rule. If you’re happily married, they’ll come for you, they’ll attack and you just have to be ready with the armor of marriage – that’s us.”
According to Candiace, RHOP it’s supposed to be about the real life of the players. So, if Gizelle or anyone else doesn’t have an original story, they should “find a seat or the unemployment line.”
As for her own future with the show, Candiace said she and Chris talk a lot about it.
“When I came to this platform, my goal was to use this platform to get to where I am,” he said. “It works… As long as I’m having fun in it Housewife – which is very tested on [season seven] – I will be here.
Candiace then said that she liked “some [her] castmates in most days, “and that is part of RHOP it is “still worth it” and even “fun” at times.
“So I’m here until I’m not or until they fire me,” he noted. “Whichever comes first.”
Real Housewives of Potomac season seven airs Sundays at 8/7c on Bravo.
