The Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, on Monday, announced that the next five years will bring a major transformation in the fortunes of Akinyele Local Government Area in the state.
The governor stated that the statement will come true because of the various landmark projects and infrastructures being installed in the area.
The governor, who stated this while campaigning in the council, maintained that the ongoing projects such as the Inland Dry Port, the African Development Bank Agroprocessing Zone, the Ilutuntun City initiated by the Oyo government as well as various infrastructure projects undertaken by him. administration, will make Akinyele the richest local government in the country in the next five to 10 years.

The governor, who met with leaders of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) at the First Baptist Church, Alade, Moniya; The League of Imams, Akinyele Local Government at Moniya Central Mosque and traditional worshipers at Isese Temple, Moniya, called on religious leaders to support the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidates in the National Assembly, state assembly and governorship elections.
Also speaking at the Kara Market and Moniya Junction campaign venue, Governor Makinde said that his government has been able to implement campaign promises, including free quality education, expansion of the country’s economy through quality roads, security of life and property through the creation of Amotekun and support for federal security agencies, among others else.
The governor, who said that everything the administration could do in Omituntun 1.0 will be integrated in Omituntun 2.0, warned the people not to allow opposition political parties that have nothing to campaign for to deceive them before the upcoming elections.
Speaking to the traditional rulers in the council, during a meeting held at the Hall of Appreciation, Akinyele Local Government Secretariat, Moniya, the governor stated that he would be ready to approve internal reforms on the issue of chieftaincy so far the reforms came from the Olubadan-in. – Council.
He also promised to review the 5 percent allocation to traditional rulers in the country, saying he would never go against the interests of traditional institutions.
He said: “We held a meeting like this in 2019 and I never said anything about what my government will represent. And one thing I want to tell you is that I may not always be right, but I will always be honest with you” citizens of Oyo State.
“The main problem you have now is about the beaded crown. When the problem started then with the Olubadan-in-Council, I said when the CCII gave me the title of chieftaincy that I will always be on the side of the Olubadan, even to the sitting government then. There was some mix -up and I will explain it to you today.
“Kabiyesi Ijaiye, I greet you. You have praised us for improving the road that leads to the environment and it is the same location as Pacesetter Quarry. We do it and hand it over.
“You may be worried that the operation of the Quarry is not enough, but I have not asked OYSIPPA about the results that come out of the site as long as it can improve the trade of Ijaiye in terms of asphalt production, create jobs for the natives. So, it is enough for me because, since 2011, no something happened on the site.
“On the issue of the crown, when the last Olubadan joined his predecessor, no one could say anything and we will not be able to install a new Olubadan if we do not withdraw the case from the court. “So, I asked them to withdraw the case to clear the way for the installation of a new Olubadan, which they did. “So, today, I want to call on the council of Obas and the Olubadan-in-Council to sit together and make internal reforms because you know everything that is happening inside. “Whatever reform comes from you is sustainable. You don’t have to come and lobby me. Once you are done and the Olubadan-in-Council brings it to me, I assure you that I will sign it.
The governor also promised that the complaint about the land acquired for the Dry Port and the Ilutuntun Business District will be investigated, that compensation will be paid to those who acquired the land for the Dry Port within a few weeks.
However, he urged the people of Akinyele to be ready for the land exchange agreement in a way that will bring greater benefits to the people, saying: “The kings must also be ready for the land exchange agreement in Akinyele. They must hold those who are responsible, because the land is our gold here, and Akinyele Local Government is one of the major beneficiaries of the deal.
“Other local governments, such as Iseyin and even Ajia in Ona-Ara, where I am from, because of the Circular Road, will benefit from the prosperity of Akinyele.
“If you go from Moniya to Iseyin, you will see many plantations coming up, and special agro processing zones are also here. So, Akinyele, in the next five years, will be the richest local government area in Oyo State.
He said during a meeting with the Muslim community of Akinyele Local Government, the governor also promised to repair the Ojo-Ayegun road before the end of the current administration in the state.
He also signaled that the state is seeking approval from the Federal Government for the dualization of the 9.78 km Ojo-Moniya road.
