Close call! Matthew McConaughey’s wife, Camila Alvesdetail the harrowing plane ride that resulted in an emergency landing – and left a handful of people in need of medical attention.
“On the Flight last night, the plane went down almost 4000 feet, 7 people went to the hospital, All flew everywhere,” wrote Alves, 41, via Instagram, Thursday, March 2, along with video footage of the bumpy ride. “To respect the privacy of the people around me, that’s all I want, but the plane is CHAOS and the commotion keeps coming. The @lufthansa flight you saw on the news today!!!! Yes… that. Alhamdulillah everything is safe and ok .”
According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the flight — which flew from Alves’ hometown of Austin, Texas, to Frankfurt, Germany – it flew about 37,000 meters through Tennessee when it experienced significant turbulence and was diverted to Washington DC, according to NBC News. The plane landed safely at the airport at 9:12 pm ET.
“Lufthansa regrets the inconvenience caused to passengers. The safety and well-being of passengers and crew is Lufthansa’s top priority,” the airline said in a statement on NBC on Wednesday.
At Just Try One Bite the author said passengers could stay at a nearby hotel before taking a second flight the next day. He added that the group “reached the bar with 1 minute before closing time” before falling asleep and continuing their journey.
Fans and famous friends were quick to send Alves their congratulations after the terrifying event, including Tamera Mowry who wrote, “Wow! Glad you’re ok! ❤️🙏🏽.” Rachel Zoe, for his part, replied, “Omg friend, thank you everything is fine. This isn’t the first life-or-death scare the Women of Today founder has dealt with in the past year. In November 2022, she took to social media to debut her neck brace after falling down the stairs.
“Women keep wearing long dresses or lose their pants when going down the stairs!! the wind blows mine when I’m in the air, the fabric of my pants wraps around my shoes and I’m down on the floor,” she captioned an Instagram post, which featured a selfie of her wearing brace. “Stupid fall, so stupid neck situation, recovery time ahead.”
Before the terrifying departure on Wednesday, Alves spent quality time with husband McConaughey and their two sons – Levi, 14, and Livingston, 10, who are both spitting images of their father – as How to lose a man in 10 days star gives his children at home haircuts.
“Then this happened …💚💛💚💛💚,” the Brazilian native captioned an Instagram photo on Tuesday, February 28, of McConaughey chopping off the 10-year-old’s blonde locks.
The happy couple are also proud parents to 13-year-old daughter Vida – who shares her mother’s dark features. Alves gave fans a glimpse of how the teenager is growing up as the family celebrated his birthday in January.
