C-SPAN Makes ‘Appalling’ Mistake In Charlie Kirk Headline

A C-SPAN YouTube video posted Thursday misspelled Charlie Kirk as “Charlie Kook” in the headline, infuriating viewers.

The news channel, which is known for covering government proceedings, shared a clip of law enforcement’s update on Kirk’s assassination titled, “FBI Briefing On Charlie Kook Shooting.”

While the conservative activist may have been a polarizing figure, referring to him as a kook is problematic. Even if done by accident.

C-SPAN eventually corrected the error in a re-uploaded version without all the negative comments. However, the reaction was forceful, despite the relatively small number of people who had watched the clip.

“There is no excuse for this title,” one person wrote. “Absolutely appalling.”

“Fire the person who made the title for this video,” another chimed in.

“It’s KIRK!!! This is disgusting!” somebody else said.

One suspicious viewer commented, “C-span intentionally misspelled his name ”. Prove me wrong”

HuffPost reached out to C-SPAN to find out what happened. We didn’t immediately hear back.
