Burglars loot hospital equipment in Ogun governor’s home town

Thieves have broken into the 100-bed Mother and Child Hospital opened last month in Iperu, Ikenne Regional Government from Ogun State and stole equipment worth millions of naira.

The hospital was commissioned by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo in February Iperu is the home town of the state governor, Dapo Abiodun.

However, the State Security Network, Amotekun Corps, said it has arrested three suspects in connection with the incident.

The state Commandant of the Corps, David Akinremi, confirmed the arrest to newsmen in Abeokuta on Friday.

Mr. Akinremi said the suspects stole six 43-inch Hisense television sets, two 65-inch Bruhm television sets, three Bruhm refrigerators, one Midea refrigerator and three Lontor rechargeable fans, all worth three million naira.

He added that one Ogunjembola Kehinde, who is among the suspects in custody, led the gang to burgle the hospital.

The commander said Mr. Ogunjembola was arrested following a complaint from Kehinde Banjoko about a burglary incident at his house while he was away in Lagos.

The stolen items allegedly found in his house include generator sets, gas cylinders, standing fans, mattresses and carpets, all worth about N500,000.

“Based on the intelligence that can be done, the main suspect was arrested and during interrogation, he admitted that he committed the alleged crime with another one today. He was admitted to lead the recovery of all the stolen goods from one Lawal Aliu who was the recipient of the proceeds of the crime.

“While the investigation into the original complaint is still active, intelligence received further revealed that the same main suspect in this case, Ogunjembola Kehinde and his criminal gang were responsible for destroying and stealing some electronic equipment at the newly inaugurated 100 Mother and Child Hospital. , Iperu .

“When he (the suspect) was confronted about this, he also admitted that he committed the offense with his friends in the original case of burglary and theft reported by Banjoko Kehinde.

“So far, three suspects have been arrested in this case, while efforts are being made to arrest the other criminal receivers mentioned by the suspects with the aim of recovering the goods allegedly sold to them,” boss Amotekun said.
