President Muhammadu Buhari has sent the best message to Muslims as he begins the 30-day Ramadan fast, urging them to use the season “to reflect the best and best virtues of Islam through personal actions, and not commands.”
In a goodwill message to mark the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, which was issued by his spokesman, Garba Shehu, on Wednesday in Abuja, Mr. Buhari said, “Let us use this opportunity to practice the best teachings of Islam, such as kindness and love for humanity.
“This is an opportunity for deep reflection and greater fear of Allah and avoiding all the evils that harm mankind.”
According to Mr. Buhari, Ramadan is characterized by not eating and drinking from dawn to dusk, which enables the rich and the poor to share the experience of hunger together, thereby strengthening the bond between the haves and the have-nots.
Mr. Buhari further urged, “as we begin this 30-day fasting season, let’s not forget that Ramadan is not just about abstaining from eating and drinking, but a reminder to avoid all kinds of evil and transgressions that harm humanity.”
The President frowned at the way and behavior of some traders artificially raising the price of goods during the month of Ramadan.
“I understand very well the actions of traders who artificially increase the price of their goods, including meals at the beginning of the month of Ramadan.
“This kind of exploitation is against the spirit of Ramadan and the spirit of Islam,” Mr. Buhari added.

The President challenged wealthy individuals and organizations to always share food and drinks with less fortunate members of society.
Mr. Buhari said: “As we hold this important event in the spiritual life of Muslims, let us share food and drink with the less fortunate.
“Because by sharing our blessings with others, Allah will multiply the reward for good deeds.”
