Buhari re-appoints Obadiah as DG Nigeria Mining Cadastre Office

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Obadiah Nkom as the Director General of the Nigerian Mining Cadastre Office for a second and final term of four years.

A statement released on Tuesday by Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, said the appointment is effective January 12, 2023.

The statement stated that Mr. Nkom was first appointed on January 12, 2019, for an initial period of four years.

“Under the leadership of Engr. Nkom in the last four years, the Nigerian Mines Cadastre Office recorded an 86% increase in revenue, with over N8.9 billion between 2019 and 2021 compared to N4.8 billion generated in the corresponding period 2016 – 2018,” he said. said.

“This is also about 50% of the contribution from Ministry of Mining and Steel Development to the economy.

“Reforms that have recently opened in the automation of the Mining Cadastre system have revolutionized the administration and management of online and real mineral titles.”

The statement noted that it was also to the credit of Mr. Nkom that during his first tenure the Nigerian Mining Cadastre Office was named the best agency of the Federal Government in the category of Digital Innovation Award for 2022 under the aegis of Internet Nigeria. Registration Association (NIRA), to add value to the activities of the Cadastre Office.
