Buhari canvasses votes for Tinubu, Buni

President Muhammadu Buhari Tuesday called on voters to vote for the presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, in the February 25 election.

Mr. Buhari who spoke at the inauguration of the APC presidential campaign in Damaturu, also called on voters to re-vote Governor Mala Buni and other party candidates in the state.

He said: “I am here in Yobe to assure you that the leadership of the party has agreed to endorse Bola Tinubu as the flag bearer of the party in the coming general elections because of his quality.”

The President commended the people of the country for their resilience and called on Nigerians to be trustworthy in all their affairs.

Mr. Buhari also enjoined Nigerians to work on agriculture to improve food security and self-reliance.

In his remarks, the President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, said the North-Eastern region had experienced the devastating effects of the Boko Haram insurgency before Mr. Buhari assumed office.

He described Mr. Buhari’s victory in 2015 as a moment of salvation for the country, and appealed for votes for the party’s candidates at all levels.

“President Buhari will continue to be a reference point for good leadership.

“We will not allow you to rest after your term is over. We will continue to consult with you wherever you are for fatherly guidance,” he said.

Also speaking, Mr. Buni said that poverty and illiteracy have been identified as the cause of insurgency, and praised Buhari for good programs and interventions aimed at overcoming the threat.

He said the people of the country would vote for Mr. Tinubu and other candidates from the party in the 2023 general election.

The governor also praised his predecessors, Bukar Abba-Ibrahim and Ibrahim Geidam for their contribution to the development of the country.
