That grows I’m Shauna Rae the controversy continues!
last week, TLC‘s latest reality hit got a lot more attention suddenly through the December episode of the star Shauna Rae Lesick started going on dates with new people. The problem? Well, if you haven’t watched the show, Shauna grew up stunted because of brain surgery when she was a child. She’s now 23 years old but — as TLC says in the show’s description — “at 3 feet 10 inches, she’s stuck in the body of an 8-year-old.” That makes dating extra difficult. The reality star herself explained on the show:
“My romantic life is really uncomfortable. I think I’ve dated, like, seven people. I attract creeps, a**holes, you know, like a typical quote-unquote bad boy, and stupid.
Creeps, a-holes, and idiots? Sadly, it’s the same ocean ALL women have to navigate, right??

But seriously, as their parents know very well, the potential for the first category of trash people – “creeps” – is higher here for obvious reasons. So after the episode when watching meet And Swygart, a hunky “world-traveller” from Wales who reached out to Shauna after Season 1 – and flew to Long Island just to go on a few dates with her – well, let’s just say the rubber meets the road. Hard.
Despite the date they cooked together, paddle boarded, kayaked, and slow-danced, they didn’t seem to want to put a label on what was going on between them. But Shauna finally said in a statement:
“Dan and I kissed, I’ll put it in there. We kissed.”
Comments called 26-year-old “sick” and “creepy” for wanting to date a woman who looks too young. And he answered by saying:
“It’s important to remember that Shauna is an amazing 23-year-old woman with a disability. So when you’re building a relationship with her, it’s important to acknowledge her disability and look past it and build on who she is as an individual. She’s an amazing 23-year-old woman and inspire, which happens very little.
But after all the new coverage, there’s more to take in over the weekend. Many support it, but some of those who can’t remember adults who are obsessed with someone who looks so young, are called charms or even, worst, just pedo behavior.
Well, Dan didn’t take that lying down. Once again, he hated defending… Shauna. She said in a new video on Sunday that she’s not backing down from her slow boyfriend:
“Shauna and I are still friends to get to know each other.”
He also blasted everyone who would stop his “friends” from dating by accusing anyone who dated him of being a pedophile:
“I think the attitude of some people is really disgusting. She has been through so much in her life. She survived cancer as a child, she always felt different and was treated differently by society. But how can you take away her rights, her human rights, to have a relationship, friendship, relationship with others?
He continued:
“Who are you to say that he can’t have one? I’m disgusted by the attitude of some people towards him and my friendship with him. I can’t believe that some people deny him the right to have friendships or connections with others. He’s human, he’s a cancer survivor , he has a disability, he has dwarfism. Who are you to take away his right to have friendships and connections with people? How dare you? How dare you?”
As said in the last post, we absolutely agree that poor young women have the same right to a love life as anyone else. It’s a shame the unique kind of obstacles you’ll encounter when trying. Unfortunately, she should be more wary of sick people who have ulterior motives for wanting to date her.
We’re not saying he’s a creep, that’s unfair to him. But what about other motives that can come with the reality star? Look, in my opinion, there is something unclear about how to meet. He approached her after seeing her TV show. Red flag. He calls himself a “nomad” and an “entrepreneur”. Red flag. Looking for him Instagram page, he looks like he’s trying to grow into an influencer, and he just started posting on it TikTok in October. Red flag. So it’s just about chasing clout? Well, controversy helps. We saw her IG page grow rapidly, with several thousand followers since Friday.
And the video where he defends her properly? It’s brand new Youtube channel. You can see it in full (below). Oh, and don’t forget to hit that like button!
We can’t say anything, but we have to express our doubts about the sincerity of whoever shot him with the girl he saw on reality TV. A man may say all the truth, but that does not make him a true man. And it didn’t prove that he was always 100% interested in Shauna as a person. But, in the end, he has to decide who is right and who is not right for his life.
