Popular Nigerian singer, Olawale Olofooro, popularly known as Brymo, has apologized again after making controversial comments about the southeast, saying an Igbo presidency would be a “pipe dream,” meaning it was hopeless.
“I’m sorry for my statement which appears to be a fanatical spewing against the Igbo tribe, I didn’t mean to cause any harm, I apologize !! .” Brymo tweeted on Friday.

Brymo has recently been the subject of a backlash from the general public over his insensitive comment that the Igbo presidency is nothing but a dream as long as there is still talk of Biafra by prominent people in Igboland.
“As long as there (are) talks by important people from Igboland about Biafra, an Igbo presidency will be a pipe dream,” Brymo tweeted.
Brymo’s statement caused an immediate reaction from the public, especially from the south-east region of the country and supporters of the Labor Party’s presidential candidate Peter Obi.
A petition was issued against Brymo by Charles Ogundele to prevent the singer from being nominated for the All Africa Music Awards 2023 (AFRIMA) and has generated 28,000 signatures.
“(Brymo’s) actions have caused division and hatred there. Preventing him from winning the All Africa Music Award will send a strong message to him, and people like him, that he cannot get away with blatant ethnic bigotry,” the petition said. mentioned.
