After years of virtual captivity, Britney Spears is finally free — sort of.
Britney is no longer under the control of a court-ordered conservatorship that dictates every move and decision for most of her adult life.
But he’s still one of the most famous people on the planet, which means he’ll never know true freedom.
The pop icon received a sad reminder of her dilemma over the weekend, when she and husband Sam Asghari tried to have a quiet dinner at a local restaurant.
In footage obtained by TMZ, Britney is seen covering her face with a menu and raising the middle finger to patrons who insist on filming her while out at Los Angeles hotspot JOEY on Friday night.
Witnesses claimed that Spears began “talking nonsense” and one audience member claimed that the singer was acting in a “maniac” manner.
Eventually, Spears and Asghari stormed off mid-dinner, and bodyguards for the couple returned to settle the bill.
As you can see, Britney is obviously a little pissed off, but it looks like she has a reason.
At first it looked like he and Asghari would refuse to address the situation, but he broke the couple’s silence on Saturday night.
“Don’t believe what people read online,” Ashgari wrote in an Instagram Story.
Britney followed through on Sunday night, but she was obviously more upset about the situation than her husband.
“I know the news is all hyped about me getting a little drunk in a restaurant…like they’re going to watch my every move!!!” Spears wrote on Instagram along with a video in which she turned the bird into the camera.
“I love it, he talks about me like I’m crazy and then has the balls to talk about all the negative things that happened in the past!!!”
Britney has a valid point.
The tabloid media has played on both sides of the fence, as most outlets have shamelessly Team Britney during the singer’s battle to free herself from conservatorship.
But as soon as Brit won the battle against her father, the press began to happily report accounts of Spears’ “unfriendly” and “unstable” behavior, thus suggesting that Jamie Spears might be right to follow her daughter.
This is the kind of opportunistic crap Britney has been doing all her life.
Plus, she can’t go out to dinner without amateur paparazzi documenting her every move, and it’s not hard to see why Ms. Spears might be a little irritated.
All this comes on the heels of claims from Kevin Federline that Britney is an unfit mother who goes months without talking to her children.
When the Brit finally convinced the judges that he could make his own decision, fans were excited and hoping to witness a new chapter in the long-time star’s life.
Unfortunately, it seems the freedom and happiness Spears longs for remains elusive.
