From child star to Hollywood mainstay! Mayim Bialik, Joey Lawrence and other actors paving the way for a lasting career when they appeared on Blooming in the early ’90s.
The sitcom ran on NBC for five seasons – from July 1990 to May 1995. Bialik (Blossom Russo), Lawrence (Joey Russo), Jenna from Öy (Six Lemurs), Michael Stoyanov (Anthony Russo), Ted Wass (Nick Russo), David Lasker (Vinnie Bonitardi), Portia Dawson (Rhonda Jo Applegate), Barnard Hughes (Buzz Richman), Finola Hughes (Carol Russo) and Courtney Chase (Kennedy Russo) starred in the series.
Bialik, for one, brought her experience as the titular character with her to another defining television role The Big Bang Theory. “I am the only one who did not steal anything [from the set] because I thought we weren’t supposed to,” the actress exclusively told Us Weekly in May 2019 after wrapping the CBS sitcom. “That’s the thing. On Bloomingwe are not allowed to take anything.”
But perhaps he will have another chance at some point. “We were asked to do it [a revival] all the time. Mayim and I talk often,” said Lawrence us in July 2017. “Mayim is interested in doing some kind of Reunion with the show and me. If we can find the right piece and the right way to revive / Reunion, we’re both open to it. Let’s talk, then we’ll see!”
The actor added at the time: “We’ve talked about it [it] and about the general excitement that continues to grow, and we try to find the right path. Then we went down!
Fans received a small taste of what to expect in June 2014. Bialik, Lawrence, von Oÿ and Stoyanov reunited to shoot promos for the show as it prepares to return in syndication on the Hub Network. The former costars hinted at the reunion via Twitter.
“Um…@joeylawrence @MikeStoyanov @JennavonOy,” Bialik wrote at the time. “We still look like young whippersnappers.”
Meanwhile, Lawrence tweeted that it was “so wonderful” to be with her former castmates again: “It feels like no time has passed. My love to you all.”
