After the day’s practice, all the players posed with a banner that read “RIP Christian Atsu” as a tribute to their fallen teammate.
Atsu was confirmed dead on Saturday, February 18, 2023, after his lifeless body was pulled from the rubble of an earthquake in Turkey.
It follows days of intense searches after earthquakes devastated Turkey and Syria in mid-February.
The former Chelsea and Newcastle United winger was laid to rest on Friday, March 17, 2022, in his hometown of Ada.
Atsu played 65 times for his country and scored nine goals. He also featured in the FIFA World Cup and several AFCON tournaments.
Meanwhile, Ghana will face Angola in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers in a double header in a few days.
Black Stars will host Angola in Kumasi on March 23 before facing Black Antelope four days later in Luanda as they aim to secure a place in next year’s tournament.
