Black Starlets continue nationwide talent hunt with Northern Region scouting exercise
The Black Starlets’ nationwide talent identification programme moves to the Northern Region this weekend, with a two-day scouting exercise scheduled for June 22 and 23 at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium in Tamale.
The exercise forms part of preparations for Ghana’s next U17 national team and will be led by newly appointed head coach Kassim Ocansey Mingle and his technical team.
Activities will begin at 9:00 a.m. on both days, with players taking part in a series of assessment matches. The technical team will evaluate their technical ability, tactical awareness, physical attributes and overall potential as they search for the country’s brightest young talents.
The exercise is open to players born in 2010 and 2011, who are eligible for the next Black Starlets cycle. Young footballers from across the Northern Region have been encouraged to attend and showcase their talent.
Players who impress during the two-day programme will earn invitations to the next phase of the selection process at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram, where further assessments will be conducted.
The Northern Region exercise follows successful scouting programmes in the Upper West and Upper East regions as the Ghana Football Association continues its nationwide search for talent.
With the 2026 WAFU Zone B U17 Championship qualifiers approaching, Mingle and his technical team are aiming to assemble a competitive squad capable of returning Ghana to the top of youth football in the region and securing qualification for future continental and global tournaments.
